Dr. Bogdan Antonescu
I am an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Physics (University of Bucharest) where I teach and mentor students in atmospheric physics, and a researcher in atmospheric sciences at the National Institute for Earth Physics.
I hold a PhD in Atmospheric Physics (2010) from the University of Bucharest, and I have worked as a severe weather forecaster and researcher at the Romanian National Meteorological Administration (2004–2010). I later served as a postdoctoral research associate (2010–2017) at the University of Manchester (United Kingdom), focusing on the climatology of European severe storms. I am a member of the European Severe Storms Laboratory, American Meteorological Society, and the Royal Meteorological Society.
In addition to academic research, I am committed to public outreach and science communication, making complex meteorological concepts accessible to decision-makers, journalists, and the public.
